GREAT EFFORT
DESPITE GREAT EFFORT, ULM SWEPT WITH GAME 3 LOSS!
 ratiopharm Ulm's exciting 2008-2009 season came to an end Sunday with a hardfought road loss to Telekom Baskets Bonn in Game 3 at Telekom Dome. Playing with heart and effort, Ulm powered to an early lead before Bonn rallied to tie the score at 31 at the half. The tight game continued through a 51-51 third quarter setting the stage for an intense fourth. Ulm trailed 62-61 with 3:20 to play but Bonn sealed their series clinching win with big baskets and cool free throw shooting. ratiopharm Ulm's best playoff effort fell short but the team could take pride in their great effort to close a great season.

HEARTBREAKER AT HOME
BONN HOLDS OFF ULM COMEBACK IN GAME 2!
Trailing Telekom Baskets Bonn by 17 points 67-50 with 7:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, ratiopharm Ulm huddled in a timeout facing an 0-2 deficit in their best-of-five Bundesliga quarterfinal series. With their backs against the wall, Ulm rallied together for a tremendous comeback outscoring Bonn 15-0 down the stretch pulling within one 70-69. Unfortunately for Ulm, the storybook ending was not to be. After a defensive stop gave Ulm the ball down one with 18 seconds to play, an errant pass turnover gave the ball back to Bonn. Following Bonn foul shots, Ulm had the ball down two 71-69 with 2.7 seconds to play. Inbounding the ball to point guard Dru Joyce, Ulm's floor general raced the length of the floor for a desperation runner just inside the top of the key. As the ball banked off the back of the rim, Ulm's stunning comeback fell just short. Ulm's first home playoff game in ten years, fell just short of a Sportszentrum Kuhberg classic as ratiopharm Ulm's comeback fell just short at the final buzzer. Down 0-2 in the series, ratiopharm Ulm looks to stay alive with a Game 3 road win over Bonn at Telekom Dome Sunday.

BONN TAKES GAME 1!
ratiopharm Ulm tipped off their Best-of-Five Bundesliga Quarterfinal Series against Telekom Baskets Bonn Sunday with a hardfought 71-62 road loss before 5,100 fans at Telekom Dome. Ulm's first playoff game in 10 years, ratiopharm Ulm showed their inexperience falling behind by 13 points at halftime. Adjusting to the intense post-season action, Ulm stormed back with an 18-9 third quarter cutting the Bonn lead to 50-46 after three. Getting as close as 58-55 in the early fourth, Ulm's comeback fell short as Bonn protected their home court to take the 1-0 series lead. Both teams look ahead to Game 2, tipping off 5pm Thursday evening at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm.

STRONG FINISH!
Ulm finishes strong and looks ahead to playoffs!
ratiopharm Ulm raced to a 17-0 lead over the first five minutes of play and never looked back in Saturday nights 91-63 regular season finale win over Nordlingen at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Finishing the season 21-13 in fifth place, ratiopharm Ulm used their productive team-victory to build momentum for the playoffs. Sean Finn led a balanced attack with 15 points 5 rebounds while Lee Humphrey added 13 points, Dan Fitzgerald finished with 12 points, Sebastian Betz contributed 11 points, Romeo Travis totaled 10 points 5 boards and All Star Power Forward produced 10 points 10 boards 6 assists in the win. A fantastic finish to a successful regular season, ratiopharm Ulm looks ahead to their Bundesliga playoff series against Telekom Baskets Bonn beginning next weekend!

ULM SLIPS AGAINST EISBAREN!
With a playoff place secure, ratiopharm Ulm slipped to an 89-81 home loss to last place Eisbaren Bremerhaven Thursday evening at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Bremerhaven's second quarter run helped the Eisbaren establish a 14 point lead. Holding off Ulm's comeback attempt, Bremerhaven earned their 6th win of the season while ratiopharm Ulm is now 20-13. All Star Power Forward Jeff Gibbs powered his way to a 20 point 16 rebound double double and Lee Humphrey hit 5 of 8 threes to add 19 points in the loss. Remaining in 6th place, ratiopharm Ulm looks forward to their regular season finale at home against Nordlingen Saturday May 9th before tipping off the 2009 Bundesliga Playoffs in mid May.

BUNDESLIGA AWARDS!
ratiopharm Ulm was well represented in the official Bundesliga Awards announced earlier this week. During the successful season, ratiopharm Ulm earned their first Bundesliga playoff berth and enter Thursdays home game against Bremerhaven with a 20-12 record. The team success has led to individual recognition as All Star Power forward Jeff Gibbs was named First team All-Bundesliga and Ulm's 'Mr Incredible' finished second in MVP Voting behind Ewe Baskets Oldenburg point guard Jason Gardner. ratiopharm Ulm point guard Per Gunther was named Bundesliga Rookie of the Year. Head coach Mike Taylor finished third in Coach of the Year voting.

ULM EARNS 'KAMPFENSIEG'!
ratiopharm Ulm earned a hardfought 77-73 'Kampfensieg' over Paderborn Saturday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. In a physical, playoff-style game, ratiopharm Ulm limited Paderborn to 37% shooting and battled until a 10-2 fourth quarter run completed the comeback in the hardfought victory. Lee Humphrey led Ulm's attack with 17 points while Jeff Gibbs posted a 15 point 12 rebound double double and Sean Finn added 10 points 7 boards to the win. The physical and competitive 'kampfensieg' played out as perfect preparation for the post season as ratiopharm Ulm earned their 20th win. Improving to 20-12, ratiopharm Ulm can finish no lower than sixth as they look ahead to the Bundesliga playoffs.

ULM TRIPS IN TRIER!
ratiopharm Ulm celebrated their 103-66 playoff clinching home win Friday night over EnBW Ludwigsburg at Sportszentrum Kuhberg tipping off their exciting two game weekend, but were unable to complete the weekend sweep after tripping in Trier 82-63 Sunday evening on BBL.TV. Tied at 32 at the half, Trier built an 11 point lead through a third quarter run and cruised to the late season win. Rooke point guard Per Gunther paced ratiopharm Ulm scoring with a solid 14 point performance while Lee Humphrey added 11 and Romeo Travis 10. Sunday's loss in Trier was ratiopharm Ulm's final road game of the regular season and at 19-12, Ulm looks ahead to three home games before the Bundesliga playoffs tip off May 17th.

But as much as their solid defense and strong rebounding helped, Ulm suffered a team-record 31 turnovers and made only 4 of 24 three point attempts (17%) in a 70-62 road loss to 3rd place MEG Gottingen. DERBY DRAMA!
ULM FALLS TO TUBINGEN IN EXCITING OVERTIME GAME!
ratiopharm Ulm and Walter Tigers Tubingen have a long history of fantastic games in their Baden Wurtemburg Derby. Saturday night's 98-95 overtime win for Tubingen at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm added the next exciting story to the traditional South German rivalry. ratiopharm Ulm's strong second quarter sparked by Sebastian Betz' energizing threes pushed the hosts to a halftime lead before Tubingen's second half comeback slowly trimmed the margin as Tiger big men Michael Haynes and Rasko Katic keyed the Tubingen attack. With 29 seconds remaining and the Derby even at 77, Ulm used their final timeout to set their strategy for the last play. A big Jeff Gibbs bucket gave Ulm a 79-77 lead with 7 seconds on the clock, but Tubingen's Branislav Ratkovica raced the length of the floor and slipped a crafty pass to Katic who tied the score just before the buzzer. In overtime, big baskets from Haynes and Tiger point guard Jermaine Anderson pushed Tubingen to a 91-84 advantage before Ulm stormed back behind scores from Jeff Gibbs, Keith Triplett and Dan Fitzgerald. A Lee Humphrey three point shot pulled Ulm within one at 95-94 with 42 seconds to play, but in the end Ulm's comeback attempt came up short. The exciting 98-95 overtime game was a fantastic example of the classic Baden Wurtemburg Derby and featured outstanding effort from both teams. Ulm was in position to win but it was Tubingen who took the intense overtime victory in a game filled with thrilling Derby Drama!

FINN'S TIP-IN LIFTS ULM TO WIN!
Sean Finn's last second tip-in lifted ratiopharm Ulm to an exciting 80-78 road win over the Koln 99ers Saturday night at Rheinenergie Dome in Koln. With the 99ers charging back to even the game at 78 with 5 seconds to play, Ulm inbounded the ball to Lee Humphrey who raced the length of the court weaving in and out of Koln defenders before floating a perfect lob pass to Finn for the game winning bucket. Lee Humphrey drilled five of six three pointers to topscore with 17 points for Ulm while Sebastian Betz sank 3 of 6 threes to add 16 points. All Star power forward Jeff Gibbs finished with 16 points 7 boards and Romeo Travis added 14 points 8 boards in the physical and intense game. Completing their two game road trip with the important road win, ratiopharm Ulm upped their record to 18-9 and took a major step forward toward sealing their first playoff spot.

ALBA BERLIN REMAINS UNBEATEN AT HOME!
With excellent focus and physical defense, German champion ALBA Berlin controlled the game and cruised to an 84-69 home win over ratiopharm Ulm Wednesday night at O2 World in Berlin. Ulm's 1 for 13 three point shooting in the first half helped ALBA build a 41-26 halftime lead before Berlin maintained control throughout the second half. A focused ALBA team shot 54% from the floor as Immanuel McElroy celebrated his birthday with a 13 point 10 rebound performance while Ansu Sesay and Steffen Hamann contributed 13 points of their own. ratiopharm Ulm All Star power forward Jeff Gibbs produced a 15 point 11 rebound double double, Sebastian Betz added 12 points and Sean Finn 10.

Sunday evening at Sportszentrum Kuhberg turned into a good evening for ratiopharm Ulm. A terrific team effort with excellent focus and defensive energy combined with Dan Fitzgerald's three point shooting and Sean Finn's hardwork in the paint drove ratiopharm Ulm to a 79-63 home win over an outstanding Telekom Baskets Bonn team. Ulm took control of the game with a third quarter run triggered by Dan Fitzgerald three point shooting and Sean Finn inside finishes which stretched their advantage to 72-50 with five minutes to play. Sean Finn's 21 point 10 rebound double double paced Ulm production while Dan Fitzgerald drilled 5 of 10 threes to add 15 points and floor general Dru Joyce was excellent with 13 points 9 assists in the win. Earning their 5th win in 6 games, ratiopharm Ulm improved to 17-8 on the season.

TEAM DEFENSE AND TRAVIS THREES LIFT ULM OVER GIESSEN!
ratiopharm Ulm trailed the Giessen 46ers 76-68 with less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter Saturday night at Sporthalle Giessen East and the stage was set for the 'take over'. Outscoring the 46ers 15-4 down the stretch, ratiopharm Ulm's team defense stepped up and forward Romeo Travis took over. In the games most important possessions, Romeo made the most important baskets burying three straight three pointers taking the game over with game-winning baskets much in the way life-long friend LeBron James finishes for the Cleveland Cavs. The competitive heart displayed by Travis and teammates lifted ratiopharm Ulm to an exciting 81-78 road win and kept them on playoff course by raising their record to 16-8.

EXCELLENT DEFENSIVE EFFORT LIFTS ULM OVER ARTLAND!
ratiopharm Ulm started slow in Saturday nights 77-70 home win over the Artland Dragons, but as the intensity level rose on-court, Sportszentrum Kuhberg heated up. Energized by one of their best defensive performances of the season, ratiopharm Ulm limited Artland to 31% shooting and outrebounded the Dragons 40-26 in the hardfought home win. Ulm received a big assist from 'Kuhberghoelle' as the Ulm fans were in spectacluar form supporting their team. Rickey Paulding scored 34 points including 25 in a fantastic first half performance from Ewe Baskets Oldenburg as the Thunderbirds beat ratiopharm Ulm 83-75 Saturday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Taking control early with excellent defense and efficient offense, Oldenburg opened a 10 point lead at half before breaking the game open with an 18-4 early third quarter run. ratiopharm Ulm competed with great heart battling back with a furious second half comeback rallying to cut the deficit to three twice in the final minutes. Jasmin Perkovic's top of the key three was the daggar pushing Oldenburg back atop the Bundesliga as 'Tabellenfuhrer'. Suffering their second home loss of the season, ratiopharm Ulm falls to 14-8 but takes many positives from the game.

TEAM EFFORT DRIVES ULM PAST SKYLINERS!
ratiopharm Ulm entered Sunday evening's road game at Ballsporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany focused for their best defensive performance of the season. A determined team effort with excellent bench production drove ratiopharm Ulm to a big 74-69 road win over Deutsche Bank Skyliners live on BBL.TV. Earning their first-ever win in Frankfurt and second win of the season over the Skyliners, underdog Ulm upset Frankfurt to take the head-to-head tie-breaker between the two teams. For ratiopharm Ulm, Sunday's terrific team effort led to a big road win!

PHANTOMS BEAT DEFENSE-LESS ULM!
ratiopharm Ulm was outscored 14-0 over the first 4 minutes of the third quarter as the NewYorker Phantoms Braunschweig run broke the game open in Saturday's 100-74 Phantoms win at Volkswagonhalle. With a soft defensive effort, Ulm allowed Braunschweig, the Bundesliga's lowest scoring team, a season best 100 point output along with 56% shooting. Lee Humphrey paced ratiopharm Ulm's offensive attack making 4 of 6 threes to topscore with 15 points followed by 14 points from Dan Fitzgerald on 4 of 7 three point shooting. After last weekends fantastic team performance in beating brose Baskets Bamberg at home, ratiopharm Ulm took it on the chin in Braunschweig. For Ulm, Saturday's road loss turned out to be fright night against the Phantoms.

Team effort helps ratiopharm Ulm beat Bamberg!
ratiopharm Ulm exploded to a 10-0 start and never looked back in beating brose Baskets Bamberg 96-79 Saturday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Sharpshooter Lee Humphrey drilled 5 of 7 threes to pace Ulm point production with 21 while Romeo Travis added 17 points 6 rebounds, Sean Finn posted 16 points and Jeff Gibbs produced a 10 point 14 rebound double double in the win. Tipping off the second half of their exciting Bundesliga schedule with a great team win, ratiopharm Ulm ups their record to 12-6 on the season.

Lee Humphrey free throw lifts Ulm to Exciting Win!
ratiopharm Ulm guard Lee Humphrey sank one free throw with 0.7 seconds on the clock lifting his team to an exciting 80-79 road win over Nordlingen before a sold-out Hermann-Kessler-Halle Saturday night. Capping a wild finish to an exciting game, Humphrey's free throw pushed Ulm to an 11-6 record as the Bundesliga enters the All Star Break. Sean Finn converted 10 of 13 shots to score 20 points while Romeo Travis added 20 points to share topscoring honors for Ulm who shot 58% from the floor in the win. Controlling play and taking a 63-54 lead into the final ten minutes, ratiopharm Ulm fought off a fierce Nordlingen rally in the fourth before the thrilling finish. With fantastic fan support and tremendous energy in the gym, Ulm and Nordlingen ushered in a 'new' Bundesliga rivalry --- and Saturday night, the difference was one big point.

With wintry conditions outside, negative ten degrees celcius and powdery snow covered the north central German city of Paderborn the first week after new year. Just as cold in their first game of the new year, ratiopharm Ulm shot a season low 36% from the floor and fell victim to a late game-breaking run that pushed host Paderborn Baskets to an 82-66 Bundesliga win Wednesday night at Sportszentrum Maspernplatz.

Earning their 10th win of the season, ratiopharm Ulm improved to 10-5 at their Christmas break while announcing several positive developments before tip off at a sold out Sportszentrum Kuhberg. Before the exciting win, ratiopharm Ulm management announced a new contract extension with sponsor SWU strengthening the teams support and financial situation into the near future. ULM MISSES CHANCE FOR ROAD WIN IN LUDWIGSBURG!
Up three points shooting two foul shots to ice the game 36 seconds to play, ratiopharm Ulm put themselves in position to win Sunday's Baden Wurtemburg Derby against EnBW Ludwigsburg in the rivalries last regular season game at Rundesporthalle. But two missed free throws, another big shot from Brian Jones and a defensive stand gave Ludwigsburg new life forcing a thrilling overtime that added to the fantastic history between the two teams. Brandon Woudstra starred in overtime leading Ludwigsburg to the intense 97-91 win. Despite the loss, ratiopharm Ulm's effort was fantastic featuring 28 points 10 rebounds from All Star power forward Jeff Gibbs, 21 points from Romeo Travis and 19 points from Lee Humphrey. After an excellent effort and positioning themselves for a win, ratiopharm Ulm did everything but finish the game. ULM BEATS RIVAL TUBINGEN WITH HELP FROM FANS!
ratiopharm Ulm won for the third straight season in Tubingen Arena, beating Walter Tigers Tubingen 84-77 Saturday night in this seasons first edition of the Baden-Wurtemburg Derby. Powered by 400 loud orange-vested fans, Ulm overcame the loss of center Sean Finn to an early ankle injury with a strong team effort. Point guard Dru Joyce topscored with a season-best 25 point performance while Lee Humphrey drilled 5 three pointers on his way to 22 and Romeo Travis added a solid 21 point 11 rebound double double including a cool 9 of 10 from the foul line. While the team production on the floor was excellent, ratiopharm Ulm fans helped energize their team with tremendous enthusiasm inspiring the team to celebrate with the fans after the final buzzer. Earning their third straight win, ratiopharm Ulm's exciting road win over rival Tubingen was simply FAN-tastic!

BOUNCED OUT!
ULM ELIMINATED FROM GERMAN CUP IN OLDENBURG!
Some days, the ball does not bounce your way. Starting slowly in Wednesday nights German Cup game, ratiopharm Ulm spent most of the game digging out of their first quarter hole only to fall short in the end as Ewe Baskets Oldenburg eliminated Ulm 82-70 at Ewe Arena. In the first quarter, ratiopharm Ulm could not get a bounce as they made 4 of 18 shots while watching Oldenburg build a 25-10 lead before Ulm could get the lid off. Ulm bounced back trimming the halftime lead to 45-35 and pulling within 6 in the second half. Oldenburg's excellent three point shooting and timely scoring kept Ulm's comeback attempt at bay as the Thunderbirds earned the win bouncing ratiopharm Ulm out of the German Cup. Center Sean Finn led Ulm with a strong 18 point 11 rebound double double while Jeff Gibbs added 14 points 7 boards and Lee Humphrey 12 points in the loss. Knocked out of the German Cup, ratiopharm Ulm looks ahead to their next Bundesliga regular season game Sunday afternoon in Bremerhaven.

WHIRL-WIN!
ratiopharm Ulm and the Koln 99ers took turns. Both teams took control. Both teams made runs. Both teams rode the wave of momentum. But at the final buzzer of Saturday nights exciting up and down rollercoaster ride of a basketball game, it was ratiopharm Ulm who finished on top in the tight 90-88 homecourt victory at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Game Day 10 of the 2008-2009 Bundesliga season. Ulm's 17-0 second quarter surge reversed a 16 point deficit and gave the hosts a 53-43 halftime lead setting up the suspense-filled second half. Dru Joyce's clutch top of the key three with 20 second to play proved the difference helping ratiopharm Ulm to their 6th win. Lee Humphrey drilled 5 threes to lead all scorers with 19 points while Dan Fitzgerald and Sean Finn added 15 points apiece and Keith Triplett was a perfect 4 for 4 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the foul line to finish with 12 in the win. An exciting and entertaining game for fans, Saturday nights game was more than a rollercoaster ride for ratiopharm Ulm --- it was a whirl- win!

GERMAN CHAMP TAKES CONTROL DOWN STRETCH IN ULM!
With an inspired team effort and fantastic sold out Sportszentrum Kuhberg crowd, ratiopharm Ulm rolled to a double digit first quarter lead and fought off the reigning Bundesliga champs for 35 minutes before ALBA Berlin took control down the stretch in their intense 85-69 road win Sunday in Ulm. The exciting game featured highlights from both teams but it was ALBA's Ansu Sesay, Julius Jenkins and Casey Jacobsen who keyed the victory in the final five minutes. ratiopharm Ulm's Sean Finn continued his outstanding play against ALBA hitting 10 of 11 shots from the floor to topscore with 20 points for Ulm. Although the excellent effort fell short against the Euroleague Berliners, ratiopharm Ulm takes many positives from the game and will work to raise their level with the experience.

GAME OF RUNS!
EXCELLENT ULM EFFORT IN TIGHT LOSS TO ARTLAND!
ratiopharm Ulm went into the Dragons-lair of Artland Arena and gave a valliant effort before falling to the powerful Artland Dragons 84-80 in an exciting Bundesliga game Sunday October 26th. Ulm's outstanding first quarter helped them build a 30-13 lead before Artland responded with a strong second quarter run of their own. After Artland took control in the third, a hungry Ulm team fought back in the fourth. Trailing by two, 81-79 with two minutes to play, Ulm had four chances to tie the game but could not come up with the big basket. At the final buzzer, the terrific team effort from ratiopharm Ulm fell just short. Sean Finn enjoyed another excellent game scoring 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting to lead the Ulm attack. Now 4-2, ratiopharm Ulm is excited about their double-Game Day weekend with home games Friday against LTi Giessen 46ers and Sunday against ALBA Berlin.

COMEBACK COMES UP SHORT!
ULM FALLS FOR FIRST TIME OF SEASON IN OLDENBURG!

A powerful third quarter push from the Thunderbirds gave the home team momentum and the double-digit lead. But Ulm had been there before. Last season, the team trailed by 14 points in the fourth quarter before staging an amazing comeback and miracle win capped by Emeka Erege's halfcourt shot. Rallying around their belief, ratiopharm Ulm stormed back in an exciting fourth quarter comeback to even the game at 74 with 46 seconds to play. KUHBERG CLASSIC!
ULM SOLVES SKYLINERS PUZZLE; IMPROVES TO 4-0!
Sparked by an intense defensive effort and unique lineup, ratiopharm Ulm staged an inspiring second half comeback to earn a tight 66-63 home win over the powerful Deutsche Bank Skyliners before a sold out Sportszentrum Kuhberg crowd Sturday night in Ulm. Slowed by the unique triangle and two defense employed by Frankfurt in the first half, Ulm countered with a small lineup featuring two point guards in the third quarter. After being puzzled by the intense Frankfurt defense in the first half, Ulm players found the solution in the second half solving the Skyliners changing defenses leading to the Ulm comeback. Romeo Travis led the Ulm attack with a terrific 15 point 11 rebound double double with help from All Star power forward Jeff Gibb's 13 point 12 rebound double double. Keith Triplett's defensive intensity was also a key to victory as the lock-down defender exhausted himself on-court with his effort helping Ulm improve to 4-0.

Romeo Travis was outstanding in ratiopharm Ulm's 66-63 home win over Deutsche Bank Skyliners at a soldout Sportszentrum Kuhberg Saturdy night in Ulm. Romeo produced a tough 15 point 11 rebound double double to lead the Ulm attack.

FANTASTIC FINISH!
ULM EDGES DUSSELDORF TO IMPROVE TO 3-0!
ratiopharm Ulm's Jeff Gibbs scored the game winning basket with 8 seconds to play and the teams defense held on through the final buzzer in a thrilling 72-71 road win over Dusseldorf Giants Saturday night at Burg-Wachter Costello Sportshalle in Dusseldorf Germany. The exciting game featuring two early season unbeaten teams played out as the tale of two halves with Ulm starting strong bursting to a 52-39 halftime lead and Dusseldorf answering with a tremendous second half surge. With 4 minutes remaining the game was tied at 66 and both teams had several opportunities to take the lead but failed to score for two minutes. Dusseldorf took a 71-68 advantage into the last minute of play but a strong Ulm defense, big baskets from Romeo Travis and Jeff Gibbs and a couple fortunate bounces helped Ulm earn the exciting road win. Ulm's All Star Power Forward Jeff Gibbs stuffed the stat sheet scoring 18 points, grabbing 20 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists and registering 3 blocks in a fantastic effort topped off with a fantastic finish!

NO FEAR!
ULM BEATS PHANTOMS IN HOME OPENER!
ratiopharm Ulm entered their home opener at Sportszentrum Kuhberg riding the wave of momentum from Wednesday nights season opening upset win in Bamberg. Saturday night, ratiopharm Ulm rode that wave rolling to a convincing 84-56 home win over NewYorker Phantoms Braunschweig before a packed Sportszentrum Kuhberg. All Star Power Forward Jeff Gibbs powered his way to 21 points 8 rebounds, but it was the strength of Ulm's team effort and defense that keyed the exciting home win. After losing to the Phantoms twice last season, Saturday night in their 84-56 home opening win at Sportszentrum Kuhberg, ratiopharm Ulm showed no fear!

BLAST OFF IN BAMBERG!
ULM UPSETS BAMBERG IN SEASON OPENER!
ratiopharm Ulm tipped off the 2008-2009 Bundesliga season with a memorable moment --- a terrific team performance resulting in an exciting 66-64 upset win over powerful brose Baskets Bamberg Wednesday night before 7,000 fans at JAKO Arena. Winless against Bamberg before Wednesday, ratiopharm Ulm was powered by an intense defensive effort and strong bench production. All Star power forward Jeff Gibbs went to work for a 16 point 12 rebound double double and rookie forward Dan Fitzgerald added 11 points off the bench in the win. Without injured starter Dru Joyce, 20 year old rookie Per Gunther was outstanding in his first Bundesliga start leading Ulm's attack with poise of a veteran. Wednesday night ratiopharm Ulm's season tipped off at JAKO Arena in Bamberg and for the team and fans, the memorable upset win turned the regular season tip off into their 2008-2009 Bundesliga blast off!

Ulm Drops Two Games at Base Cup in Oostende!
ratiopharm Ulm lost two games in Oostende Belgium this weekend completing their official preseason schedule. Quality competition of Base Oostende and Antwerp Giants helped Ulm prepare for the challenges ahead in the upcoming Bundesliga season which officially tips off for ratiopharm Ulm Wednesday night September 24th at Jako Arena in Bamberg.

Ulm Edges Ludwigsburg in Preseason Game!
ratiopharm Ulm and EnBW Ludwigsburg met Wednesday night at Ulm University Gym North with the expected usual result --- a hardfought rivalry game. Playing in Ulm for the first time this preseason, ratiopharm Ulm still was unable to play at home due to renovations and construction to Sportszentrum Kuhberg. Ulm Splits Pair in K'Town Tourney!!
ratiopharm Ulm drilled 13 of 25 three (52%), hit 56% from the floor and put five players in double figures in beating host Kaiserslautern Braves 101-67 Sunday afternoon in the second day of tournament action at Bad Homburg, Germany. Jeff Gibbs and Lee Humphrey scored 14 points apiece with Sean Finn adding 13 points 4 boards, Keith Triplett 11 points and Dan Fitzgerald 10. The uptempo first quarter resulted in a 29-27 Ulm lead before Humphrey and teammates broke the game open with three's to build a 53-37 halftime cushion. Using the game for continued development and experimentation, all 13 Ulm players scored and the team could look at strengths and areas of their performance needing improvement. In the win, Ulm limited the Pro A Braves to 42% shooting and forced 15 turnovers while dishing out 16 assists to only 7 turnovers of their own. As a team, Ulm also sank 18 of 30 free throws (60%). Staying in Bad Homburg after the game, ratiopharm Ulm travels to Bree Belgium Monday to tip off a weeklong training camp September 1st through 7th.

Ulm Enjoys Tip Off Gala;
Looks Ahead to Tournament and Training Camp!!
ratiopharm Ulm's third week of preseason provided more progress as the team prepares for the challenges ahead in the 2008-2009 Bundesliga schedule. Tuesday evening, ratiopharm Ulm met over 200 sponsors, fans and city politicians at the annual 'Tip Off Gala' held at the Ulm Stadthaus. The entertaining evening gave everyone a chance to celebrate basketball in Ulm and build excitement for the season ahead. On the court, ratiopharm Ulm completed another week of challenging preseason workouts as the team looks forward to the Kaiserslautern Tournament this weekend (August 3oth and 31st) before a weeklong training camp in Belgium!

Meeting new teammates and families, catching up from the fun over the offseason and looking ahead to the challenges ahead, the Ulm team prepared to take their first steps together on the journey of the 2008-2009 Bundesliga season. Open practice for the enthusiastic Ulm fans tips off 5pm Sunday night at Ulm University Gym North.
