Ulm Celebrates with Win!
ratiopharm Ulm put the finishing touches on a special season celebrating a 91-83 win over 1FC Kaiserslautern before a sold out Sportszentrum Kuhberg Saturday night in Ulm. With Bundesliga representatives presenting Ulm with their championship banner and a pre-game appearance from Ulm Mayor Ivo Gonner, excitement filled the gym before the game. Exciting action also filled the 40 minutes of game time as Ulm's Jonathan Levy topscored with 23 points including 5 three pointers while teammate Jeff Gibbs secured his second straight 2.Bundesliga South rebounding title with an amazing 17 point 21 rebound effort. Captain Emeka Erege was solid scoring 14 points with 8 rebounds while Konrad Wysocki contributed 12 points 7 rebounds and Maksym Shtein added 12 points 5 boards. The season-ending victory at Sportszentrum Kuhberg completed Ulm's championship year with a 29-1 record --- tying Ludwigsburg for the best record in 2.Bundesliga South history --- and kept Ulm unbeaten in league play at Kuhberg for two seasons, a 30-0 home mark. After the game, Ulm players, staff and management celebrated their tremendous season with fans at an open air party just outside Sportszentrum Kuhberg. Taking team pictures, cutting down the net and having fun, ratiopharm Ulm celebrated their season Saturday night!

Ulm Wins in Jena!!
ratiopharm Ulm earned a convincing 81-69 road win over erdgas Baskets Jena Saturday night at Lobeda West in Jena. Jeff Gibbs powered his way to 24 points and 8 rebounds and Jonathan Levy added 16 in the solid team win. Leaving no doubt about the 2.Bundesliga South, Ulm improved to 28-1 for the year while second place Jena slipped to 24-5. Winning both regular season head to head meetings with Jena, Ulm's road win in Jena resulted from a solid team performance and hardworking defense. Pleased with the effort in Jena, ratiopharm Ulm now looks ahead to the season finale at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm when 1FC Kaiserslautern visits Saturday April 29th for a 7pm tip.

Ulm 2005-2006 2.BUNDESLIGA SOUTH CHAMPIONS!
ratiopharm Ulm opened a new chapter in their basketball history Saturday night at a jam-packed Sportszentrum Kuhberg with a 106-73 victory over USC Freiburg to claim the 2005-2006 2.Bundesliga South championship and earn promotion into the German top division, the Bundesliga. Jonathan Levy's 25 point performance and Jeff Gibbs' 18 point 15 rebound effort powered Ulm to 27-1 on the season clinching the league title and the "Aufstieg". Sparking celebration in Sportszentrum Kuhberg, the Ulm win was a night to remember --- the night Ulm's basketball dreams came true!

ratiopharm Ulm Rolls to 109-85 Win Over Lich!
ratiopharm Ulm rolled to a 109-85 road win over a shorthanded TV Lich team in 2.Bundesliga South Game Day 27 Saturday night at Dietrich Bonhoefer Halle in Lich Germany. Exploding to a strong 19-4 start, Ulm took control with an uptempo attack resulting in a 35 point first quarter and 63 point first half. Eventually, every Ulm player scored as the team improved to 26-1 on the season moving on the brink of the Bundesliga. Reducing their "Magic Number" to one, Ulm can now clinch the 2.Bundesliga South championship and earn promotion into Germany's top basketball league as early as next weekend with a win over Freiburg.

Undeniable Ulm Earns 105-95 OT Win in Bayreuth!
4 players fouled out. A 33-22 Ulm-Bayreuth foul count resulted in an unbalanced 46 to 26 Bayreuth-Ulm free throws attempted. Crazy lineups on the floor down the stretch forced Ulm to play "small ball". A fantastic effort from both teams in one of the most exciting games of the season saw both teams work through ups and downs and play through highs and lows as momentum swung quarter to quarter. But in the end, it was momentum from Ulm center Maksym Shtein's 2 money three balls that propelled ratiopharm Ulm to a 16-6 overtime period and one of the most significant wins in team history. 25-1 ratiopharm earned a true team win by overcoming adversity to record an amazing 105-95 overtime win at Oberfrankenhalle Friday night in Bayreuth Germany. Shtein's 20 point 8 rebound performance was one of many key contributions for Ulm who received a game best 25 points from forward Konrad Wysocki, 20 points from Emeka Erege and a 14 point 10 rebound double-double from Jonathan Levy. Ulm's win combined with Jena's loss in Chemnitz gives Ulm a 3 game lead with 4 to play.

Ulm Edges Jena!!
ratiopharm Ulm closed out the 2005 schedule with a big win edging league rival erdgas Baskets Jena 74-72 before an overflow crowd at Sportszentrum Kuhberg Friday night in Ulm. Improving to a league best 14-0 and remaining unbeaten into the Christmas Break, Ulm's key win gives them a three game lead plus head to head advantage over 11-3 Jena (11-2 Chemnitz enters Christmas break in second place). Outstanding team defense that limited Jena to 11 points in the fourth quarter and excellent crunch-time offensive play pushed Ulm to the tight win late in the game as the team rallied from a 7 point third quarter deficit with big plays from the entire roster. Jonathan Levy, who has demonstrated a knack for making big shots all season, sank two clutch free throws with 8 seconds remaining to position Ulm for the win. Center Maksym Shtein showed a warroirs heart scoring 13 points with 8 rebounds returning for the fourth quarter after being sidelined with a third quarter forehead gash that required 3 stitches to sew up on the sideline. Jeff Gibbs powered his way to 9 points and a game high 14 rebounds while Emeka Erege played tremendous defense and provided super leadership. Point guard Martin Thuesen was solid in his minutes and drilled a first half three. Ulm also received excellent production from bench players Christian Grosse, Florian Mobius and Jan Sprunken who all contributed in the win --- Sprunken sank three critical three point shots, Mobius hit 3 of 5 big shots for 6 points and Grosse added 8 points including 2 for 4 from behind the arc.

Underdog ULM rolls to Michelin Cup Title!!
Underdog ratiopharm Ulm captured the Michelin Cup championship with a 68-61 title game victory Sunday afternoon over host BG Karlsruhe completing a surprising run through an outstanding international tournament field at Europahalle in Karlsruhe Germany. Tournament MVP Maksym Shtein posted his third straight double double to key Ulm's third consecutive upset win as excellent team defense and textbook teamwork characterized Ulm's play over the weekend which included a 90-67 upset over KK Zagreb from Croatia, an 89-79 surprise win over Bundesliga playoff team Ludwigsburg and the 68-61 victory over Karlsruhe Sunday in the title game.
