ULM FALLS IN FINALE!
Center court at Sportszentrum Kuhberg was once again a fun spot for fans following ratiopharm Ulm's season finale Saturday night. Despite the 93-79 setback to rival Walter Tigers Tubingen, ratiopharm Ulm team members and fans enjoyed a moment to celebrate their successful season together before officially closing the book on Ulm's first year back in the Bundesliga. On the court, Tubingen made the big shots when needed while Ulm's slow start and late offensive fade sealed the season-ending result. As with any rivalry game, both teams competed well in an entertaining game as Bryan Lucas (16 points) and EJ Gallup (15 points) were in excellent form for Ulm.

ULM BURNED BY DRAGONS!
ratiopharm Ulm entered Artland Arena dreaming of an upset win which would keep their long-shot playoff hopes alive, but after an exciting first half, hot-shooting Artland turned up the heat in the second half to pull away with a 99-81 win seen live on Premiere TV. Continuing their excellent recent run, which included winning their way into the German Cup Finals last weekend in Hamburg, Head Coach Chris Fleming's Dragons were in fine form as Saturday's win coupled with Sunday's Oldenburg loss clinched a Playoff berth for Artland. Ulm's spirited effort was staggered when All-Star Power Forward fouled out late in the third quarter after a flurry of foul calls. Without Gibbs, who scored 19 points in the first half alone, Austen Rowland (18 points 7 assists 4 of 5 from three) and teammates marched on only to see Artland shoot the lights out. In fact, Artland's Jan Rohdewald (5 for 5), Lamont McIntosh (4 for 5) and Adam Hess (3 for 6) combined to sink 12 of 16 threes to make the difference for the Dragons. Despite the loss, ratiopharm Ulm players left Artland Arena proud of their effort and performance this season. Now 16-17, Ulm caps their first year in the Bundesliga by meeting rival Walter Tigers Tubingen Saturday May 12th for a 7:30pm tip off at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm.

COMEBACK KIDS!
Trailing by 21 points early in the second quarter, ratiopharm Ulm seemed reeling following Trier's amazing first quarter shooting. After a 39 point explosion which saw Trier sink 15 of 18 for 83% from the floor in the first ten minutes, Ulm re-grouped behind a fantastic team effort for a 100-90 comeback win Saturday night at Trier Arena. Captain Emeka Erege was outstanding on both ends of the floor for Ulm scoring a game high 24 points on 9 for 12 shooting and giving great defensive effort. But Erege was not alone. Point guard Austen Rowland distributed an amazing 18 assists, Shooting Guard Jonathan Levy hit 4 of 5 threes for 21 points, Center Bryan Lucas scored 15 points with 8 boards and hit clutch free throws down the stretch and power forward Jeff Gibbs produced another 13 point 10 rebound double-double along with a highlight hammer-dunk over Trier's Detlef Musch. While the pre-game ceremony provided a special moment, Saturday nights team effort resulted something special for ratiopharm Ulm --- a comeback win!

ratiopharm Ulm executed their defensive game plan and met their offensive goals to meet the physical challenge in the paint, but at the final buzzer Ulm's 8 game home winning streak met its end in Sunday afternoon's 84-74 loss to powerful Eisbaren Bremerhaven at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Post players Bryan Lucas and Jeff Gibbs gave the team fantastic effort, but in the end, it was the experience and depth from Bremerhaven that made the difference. ULM FALLS TO 46ERS!
Like the scary stories from Friday the 13th, ratiopharm Ulm's turnovers and mistakes came back to haunt them late in Friday nights game at Giessen. Inspired by halftime news of Nurnberg's loss and powered by a 17-4 third quarter run, the Giessen 46ers cemented their stay in the Bundesliga for a 41st season with Friday nights 75-69 victory over ratiopharm Ulm. Even though the game was decided late, iced by a clutch Brian Snider last-minute left wing three and two James Head free throws, ratiopharm Ulm's missed opportunities from earlier in the game eventually left the team empty handed at the end --- fitting storyline for a Friday the 13th. LUDWIGSBURG KNOCKS ULM OUT OF CUP!
ratiopharm Ulm saw their dreams of a trip to Hamburg's Colorline Arena and a German Cup Top Four appearance end with a 101-75 loss in Ludwigsburg at Rundesporthalle Wednesday night. A close game through three quarters, Ulm was outscored 30-12 in the final quarter and 25-6 after a bench technical foul on Head Coach Mike Taylor for throwing his suitcoat in dispute of several calls. In the end, Ludwigsburg's rebounding advantage (47-29), timely three point shooting and strong team defense was the difference in helping them advance to Hamburg and the Top Four. Some days the ball just doesn't bounce your way. For ratiopharm Ulm, one week after the high of their thrilling home upset of reigning German Champion Rheinenergie Koln, Sunday's 96-67 loss in Paderborn was a low. Suffering through a 10-0 Paderborn run in the first quarter, a 12-0 Paderborn run in the second and a 13-0 Paderborn run in the third, it was clear Ulm forgot to pack their defensive intensity for this road trip. ULM SLIPS TO 46ERS BY 6!
ratiopharm Ulm's fourth quarter comeback fell just short as the Giessen 46ers presented new head coach Ken Scalibroni with an 82-76 victory, the teams second win of the season on Scalibroni's second official day on the job. Inconsistent Ulm defensive intensity saw the teams trade baskets throughout much of the game and allowed the 46ers to play from the lead for most of the second half. Second quarter and late 3rd/early 4th quarter runs put Ulm in position to extend their winning streak, but it was Giessen who executed and converted on clutch possessions to earn the win. For ratiopharm Ulm, Sunday's loss to Giessen is another lesson for a young team working its way to establish itself in the Bundesliga.
