Thursday January 22, 2009 ULM'S ALL STAR! ratiopharm Ulm power forward Jeff Gibbs played in Bundesliga All Star day Saturday January 17th at SAP Arena in Mannheim Germany. Starting at power forward for the South team, Jeff enjoyed an excellent performance in his third consecutive All Star appearance. Playing a strong first quarter, Jeff converted a lob dunk on the South team's first offensive possession, sank a right wing three point shot and finished a backdoor cut to help the South to a strong start. Later, Jeff made a terrific pass out of a double team to cutting teammate Tim Ohlbrecht for the two hand slam. Re-united with former ratiopharm Ulm teammate Konrad Wysocki, Gibbs finished with 11 points in the game. With the North stars opening a big lead, Bonn's Winsome Frazier and Brandon Bowman spearheaded the comeback effort. Taking the lead 97-95 late in the fourth quarter, the South team was poised for an All Star game victory for the first time in several seasons. However, a Julius Jenkins left wing three point shot reclaimed the lead for North. On the South teams final possession, an initial miss was rebounded by Konrad Wysocki who left his desperation fading follow short. Gibbs grabbed the final rebound under the basket and was snuffed at the buzzer by aggressive North defenders. The exciting All Star game ended with a one point win for the North team 98-97. Artland Dragons post player Darren Fenn captured the 2009 Bundesliga All Star game MVP award, Nordlingen's Osvaldo Jeanty won the Three Point Shootout and Frankfurt's Keith Simmons took the Slam Dunk crown. click here for Regio-TV report from All Star Game!

Earlier in the day, the NBBL All Star game featured Germany's top talent from the youth Bundesliga. Ulm's Alex Heide was selected to play for the South team and the talented young forward played well in his first appearance at All Star day.
