| Ulm upgraded their
frontline this offseason by signing super talented Niki Arinze.
A two year pro, Niki gained experience in the British Basketball
League playing for the Newcastle Eagles in 2002-2003 and
Scottish Rocks in 2003-2004. While with Newcastle, Arinze
burst into the pro basketball scene earning All BBL honors by
averaging 20.4ppg and 8.6rpg. Last season, Niki
moved north to Scotland where he helped lead the Scottish Rocks
to early season success including a march deep into the Cup
before having his season cut short with a knee injury.
Arinze was averaging 20ppg and 6rpg before the injury.
Determined to regain top form, the dedicated professional
underwent surgery in Winston Salem North Carolina and
rehabilitated his injury with tremendous commitment and tenacity
for 6 months before signing his contract with Ulm.
Arinze's rehabilitation was overseen by Physical Therapist Lee
Howard who works with several NBA players and ranks among the
best in the US. Niki is expected to return to 100% fitness
by midseason with Ulm. The Nashville, Tennessee native
began his college career playing in the high level ACC at Wake
Forest University before finishing as a Division II All American
at Henderson State in Arkansas. Niki's game is a mix of
athleticism and skills. A tremendous offensive player in
the post, Arinze also has excellent perimeter skills and
outstanding passing ability. An intelligent player, Niki
has been well known for his fantastic dunks and shot blocks. Truly a student of the game, Niki studies NBA game films and is
extremely knowledgeable about the game. Expect a GREAT impact
from Niki Arinze in Ulm this season. |
