BUNDESLIGA AWARDS!

ratiopharm Ulm trio earn recognition for team and season!

Jonathan Levy (left) and Jeff Gibbs (right) were recognized in voting from Bundesliga Coaches and Media earlier this week.  Levy finished third in Newcomer of the Year voting while Gibbs was runner-up for Bundesliga MVP and named First team All-Bundesliga.

Wednesday Bundesliga Awards were announced for 2006-2007 and ratiopharm Ulm earned recognition in several areas for their outstanding "rookie" season.  Voted on by Bundesliga coaches and media, Ulm power forward Jeff Gibbs was named to the All-Bundesliga First Team at power forward.  Even more impressive, the Columbus Ohio native was voted second in Bundesliga MVP voting.  Also receiving excellent recognition, ratiopharm Ulm shooting guard Jonathan Levy finished third in "Newcomer of the Year" voting. Finally, ratiopharm Ulm head coach Mike Taylor finished third in "Coach of the Year" voting.

In all three votes, EnBW Ludwigsburg claimed top spot at point guard Jerry Green captured Bundesliga MVP honors for his fantastic season, Je'Kel Foster earned Newcomer of the Year and Head Coach Silvano Poropat was the well-deserved Coach of the Year.  Other 2006-2007 Bundesliga Award winners included:

Most Valuable Player: Jerry Green (EnBW Ludwigsburg)
Coach of the Year: Silvano Poropat (EnBW Ludwigsburg)
Newcomer of the Year: Je’Kel Foster (EnBW Ludwigsburg)
Rookie of the Year: Nicolai Simon (ALBA Berlin)
Best Offensive Player: Casey Jacobsen (Brose Baskets Bamberg)
Best Defensive Player: Immanuel McElroy (RheinEnergie Köln)
