DECISION DAY in Ulm!
As ratiopharm Ulm looks forward to their next game Saturday in Ludwigsburg's new Arena, the most important victory of the 2009-2010 season for basketball in Ulm could come Wednesday night as the city governments of Ulm and Neu Ulm will vote on Ulm's Arena project. 6pm Wednesday night, the decision will be finalized for or against the building of a new Multifunction-Arena for the Ulm region. When Wednesday's vote passes with a 51% majority, the ceiling will raise for the future of Bundesliga basketball on the Donau. The proposed new Multi-purpose Arena would serve the Ulm region bringing events and concerts that were before unavailable. Along with a variety of new entertainment for the region, the new Arena would be the home for ratiopharm Ulm basketball.

ratiopharm Ulm has played Bundesliga basketball in Sportszentrum Kuhberg from 1988 through 2001 and most recently from 2006-2007 through this season. While Sportszentrum Kuhberg is rich in basketball tradition, it is far outdated from current Bundesliga standards. The proposed new Arena would be located in Neu-Ulm with roughly 6,000 seating capacity (double Sportszentrum Kuhberg in size) along with much needed lounges and luxury suites which would allow the ratiopharm Ulm basketball organization to make the next steps professionally. Ulm's management led by Dr Thomas Stoll and Andreas Oettel have worked tirelessly over years on the project which has been supported by both cities of Ulm and Neu Ulm throughout the process. A political project uniting the cities of Ulm and Neu Ulm while connecting German states of Bavaria and Baden Wurtemburg, Ulm's Arena project would be a fantastic example of teamwork within the region making something special happen.
Wednesday night in Ulm, the cities of Ulm and Neu Ulm will vote on the new Arena project. When this vote passes, the future of basketball in Ulm is bright. For ratiopharm Ulm basketball, Wednesday is a big day --- for the cities basketball future, Wednesday is Decision Day.
