A tremendous embassador for ratiopharm Ulm basketball, small forward Emeka Erege has represented his organization to the highest level with class and professionalism on and off the floor for his two excellent seasons in Ulm. Recently named team captain, Emeka is a key piston firing in Ulm's success over the last two seasons. From Berlin, Emeka holds dual citizenship from Germany and Nigeria after growing up in Lagos. Emeka attended high school in the USA at Long Island Lutheran, a powerful high school program that has produced several well known basketball players. Erege went on to attend Davidson University and play for the outstanding head coach Bob McKillop who schooled Emeka well in the game. From Davidson, Emeka made a stop in France Pro A before arriving in Ulm two seasons ago. Starring at small forward for two years, Emeka returns to ratiopharm Ulm after signing a three year deal toward the end of the 2003-2004 campaign. The 6'5 athlete emerged as one of the 2.Bundesliga South's top players in the 2003-2004 season which saw him lead Ulm in scoring at 16.9ppg while grabbing 5.1 rebounds per game in a team high 31:21 minutes per game. An extremely versatile player, Emeka excels in transition and has a unique knack of finishing baskets around the rim. Erege can post up effectively and is a slashing driver capable of finishing with touch or with authority. Remarkably, Erege ended 2003-2004 with Ulm's best three point shooting percentage at 40.6%. Considered among the top defenders in the league, Emeka can guard perimeter and post players effectively. An extremely intelligent basketball player, Erege uses his body well and makes sound decisions on the floor. A member of the German National team B roster, Emeka lead or tied for the lead in scoring 14 times for Ulm in 2003-2004 including an amazing 30 point 9 rebound performance when the chips were down at Tubingen. In the 2004-2005 season, Emeka again led the team in minutes played at 31:02 but saw his numbers dip to 13.9ppg along with 6 reb. Erege shot 50.3% from the floor and hit 67.5% from the foul line last season. His best performances last season came in Ulm's 104-94 home win over Chemnitz on April 2, 2005 when Erege scored a season best 27 points although his strong double double of 21pts and 10 reb in the road loss at Kaiserslautern Sunday Febuary 6th, 2005 was also impressive. Expect Emeka, a keystone in the ratiopharm Ulm team, to once again play a major role in the organizations success this season.
