FLORIAN MOBIUS IS AN ULMER! Florian Mobius extends ratiopharm Ulm contract for next season! Earlier this week ratiopharm Ulm announced that forward Florian Mobius has extended his contract for next season. With the team since the GM Thomas Stoll took control of the lisence in 2001-2002, Florian has established himself as one of the most dependable and trustworthy players in the rich tradition of Ulm basketball. A fan favorite, Florian has also been one of Ulm's most improved players this season, his first in the Bundesliga. Familiar sights for ratiopharm Ulm fans, forward Florian Mobius will shoot his patented perimeter jumpshots for "his" team next season! When GM Thomas Stoll and then Head Coach Rainer Bauer began recruiting for their first 2.Bundesliga South team in 2001-2002, they identified a player they classified as a "sleeper" in nearby Stuttgart's outskirts of Boblingen. Signing Florian Mobius to a contract was the first step in a fantastic journey for one of Ulm's most solid players. Flo has been an integral part of ratiopharm Ulm's success every step of the way, playing for Ulm throughout their entire progress in the 2.Bundesliga South. Developing as his team had developed, Mobius became the 2.Bundesliga South's top 6th man in 2003-2004 and worked his way into Ulm's starting lineup for the second half of the 2004-2005 season. In ratiopharm Ulm's championship year last year, Flo played a key role for his team appearing in all 30 games producing 5.4ppg with 2.2reb on 51% floor shooting and 44% from three in just under 13 minutes per game. This season, as a rookie in the Bundesliga just like his team, Flo has contributed 2.4ppg with 1.2reb while shooting 55% from the floor and 46% from three in an average of 8 minutes 50 seconds per game. Since Christmas, Flo's playing time has consistently gone up after several strong performances including a perfect floor shooting night and 8 important points in Ulm's home upset win over reigning German Champion Rheinenergie Koln. Without question Florian Mobius is a key role player for ratiopharm Ulm and his unselfishness and versatility have proven to be extremely valuable throughout his successful 5 season career with the team. Known as a hardworking, intelligent team player, Florian Mobius is also a skillful perimeter shooter! While making the transition into the Bundesliga, Mobius is also completing his education in Sports Business and working on his thesis which interestingly enough also revolves around basketball. Flo is completing a project examining development of "German Players in the Bundesliga". ratiopharm Ulm is proud to add Flo to the roster for next season joining All Star power forward Jeff Gibbs, current starting center Bryan Lucas and team captain Emeka Erege.
