Los Angeles, California native Jonathan Levy comes to ratiopharm Ulm after enjoying a tremendous first year playing professional basketball. A NCAA division II All American at Cal-State San Bernadino, Levy played his rookie season in Europe for Furstenfeld in Austria's top division. Named MVP of the Austrian All-Star game, "Jono" averaged 21.3ppg 4.7reb and 2.8ast while shooting 36% from behind the arc. Levy was named to the All-Defensive and All-Newcomer teams in Austria and made the All-Austrian League 2nd team. During the summer, Jonathan joined the Kansas Cagerz midway through the USBL season and met Ulm head coach Mike Taylor. While playing for the Cagerz, Levy produced 9pts and 3reb while shooting 38% from NBA three point range playing a backup point guard role in 11 games. A key part of the teams run into the USBL championship game, Jonathan scored 15pts on 6 for 11 shooting with 4 boards in the title game loss to the Dodde City Legend. Since arriving in Ulm, Jono has made a fantastic impression on and off the floor. A true triple threat at the shooting guard spot,the left handed Levy can drill jump shots from range, beat defenders off the dribble creating for himself or teammates and physically post up to score on the block. Defensively, Jonathan takes pride in locking opponents up and using his athleticism to help his team. An exciting player, Levy has the ability to produce "high-light reel" slam dunks and blocked shots. Just as his physical gifts, Jonathan's positive attitude and team first personality make a huge difference on a daily basis. A true basketball fanatic, Levy loves the Los Angeles Lakers and counts Kobe Bryant as his favorite pro. Extremely creative, Jonathan enjoys music, produces his own beats as a hobby and comes from a musically inclined family.
