Ulm Visits Tubingen Friday!

ratiopharm Ulm completes their 2009 preseason schedule with a rivalry road game against Walter Tigers Tubingen Friday night.  Tipping off 8pm at Uhlandhalle in Tubingen, ratiopharm Ulm will make their first appearance at the old Tubingen gym since the classic 2.Bundesliga overtime game in March 2003-2004.  As both Ulm and Tubingen prepare for regular season tip off October 9th, both teams will look for a strong performance in Fridays game.  Unfortunately for Ulm, their injury-riddled preseason will finish the way it has played out as several key players are likely to miss the action due to injury.  Like earlier in the week in Ludwigsburg, Ulm's Christian Burns, Lee Humphrey and Per Gunther remain rehabilitating injuries which could force them to miss the game.  Although all three continue to make progress, Ulm medical people will make a decision if the players are available.

ratiopharm Ulm met arch rival Walter Tigers Tubingen in the second day of Fritz & Macziol Cup action at Sportszentrum Kuhberg earlier this preseason in Ulm.  More than any regular preseason game, every ratiopharm Ulm and Walter Tigers Tubingen matchup presents another grudge match for the two rivals. This season, former Ulm starting small forward Romeo Travis has signed in Tubingen and will add more fuel to the rivalry fire.  Crossing the lines of the Ulm-Tubingen rivalry should provide added intensity from the Ulm fans toward Travis.  Along with the signing of Romeo, Tubingen also made an outstanding moves adding experienced talented post player Alexander Nadjfeji, shooting post man Dane Watts, Daryl Hudson and Michael Jenkins.  Returning for the Tigers include post man Ken Williams, guard Branislav Ratkovica, captain Jay Thomas and big man Jufan Geiger.  For fans from both Ulm and Tubingen, the seasons first meeting between the two rival teams will be a highlight of the Fritz & Macziol Cup!
