Thursday January 15, 2009 EXTENSION! ratiopharm Ulm and head coach Mike Taylor announced a two year contract extension during a press conference held Thursday afternoon at sponsor Fritz & Macziol. Currently coaching in a sixth season with Ulm, the two year agreement covers the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons and sets the organizations direction for the near-future. Planning for the new multipurpose Arena in Ulm could potentially open in 2011. Along with the two year extension, five-year sponsor Fritz & Macziol will increase their support along with providing the possibility for a second assistant to be added to the Ulm staff.

During the 2003-2004 season, Ulm posted a 26-4 record finishing second before going 24-6 for a second consecutive second place finish in 2004-2005. The team earned the 'Aufsteig', promotion into the Bundesliga, with a 29-1 championship season in the 2.Bundesliga South during 2005-2006. Working with one of the Bundesliga's lowest budgets, Ulm has demonstrated steady development on and off the floor in their first two Bundesliga seasons and are currently 11-6 at the All Star Break this year.

JEFF GIBBS ALL STAR STARTER FOR SOUTH TEAM! ratiopharm Ulm power forward Jeff Gibbs will appear in his third consecutive All Star game Saturday January 17th in Bundesliga All Star Day at SAP Arena in Mannheim Germany. Voted into the South starting lineup by Bundesliga basketball fans, Jeff currently averages 14.1ppg and 9.9reb while shooting 56% from the floor and Gibbs is currently 11th in the league in scoring, is 2nd in rebounding and has recorded a Bundesliga leading 7 double-doubles along with a Bundesliga leading efficiency rating per game (19.24). In the 2006-2007 season, Jeff earned his first All Star spot and also participated in the Bundesliga slam dunk competition. In his first All Star appearance, Jeff scored 14 points with 6 boards. Saturday's All Star Day tips off at SAP Arena in Mannheim with the first rounds of the Slam Dunk contest and three point shootout at 2:30pm. The NBBL All Star Game follows at 4pm before final rounds of the Slam Dunk contest and Three point shootout at 5:50pm. Warmups for the Bundesliga All Star game begin at 7pm and the highlight of the day, the Bundesliga All Star Game starts at 7:30pm.
