Ulm Runs to 108-61 Win in Nordlingen!
For the second consecutive preseason game six of eight ratiopharm Ulm players reached double figures --- again --- led by forward Konrad Wysocki's 25 point performance in the teams 108-61 exhibition road win at Hermann-Kessler Hall at Reiser Sportpark Saturday night in Nordlingen. Ulm received strong games from Christian Grosse (12pt 7ast 5stl), Jeff Gibbs (13pt 6reb 5ast 4stl), Jonathan Levy (14pt 4stl), Maksym Shtein (13pt 3reb) and Jan Sprunken (13pt 3ast) in the win. Now 2-0 in the preseason, ratiopharm Ulm begins preparation for their exciting Fritz & Macziol Cup this weekend September 8-10 at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm.

Balanced scoring sparked ratiopharm Ulm to a second preseason win as 6 of 8 players reached double figures scoring totals in the teams 108-61 victory over Nordlingen Saturday night in Nordlingen. Konrad Wysocki led the Ulm charge with a terrific 25 point night on a sizzling 11-14 floor shooting including 2 for 3 from three point range. Starting in place of injured captain Emeka Erege, Wysocki has made his minutes count while making a positive impression this preseason. Leading the team in scoring for the Ulm Team game and both preseason wins, Konrad has emerged as an integral part of the Ulm attack and is preparing himself for a fantastic year.
The scoring balance has resulted from excellent teamwork and unselfish basketball from the entire roster which resulted in a team total of 28 assists in the Nordlingen win. The ballmovement and teamwork also resulted in high shooting percentages as Ulm hit 46 of 66 shots (70%) including 12 of 20 (60%) from three!
Ulm started strong despite playing without captain Emeka Erege and floor general Austen Rowland who remained inactive while resting minor injuries. By the half, ratiopharm Ulm had collected a 61-25 lead and drilled 8 of 10 three point shots. With an 84-41 lead after three, Ulm used unique lineups and Head Coach Mike Taylor creatively challenged the players to play different positions. One lineup that proved interesting was Gibbs at the point, Wysocki at the two, Mobius at the three and Lucas and Shtein in the post. The "BIG UNIT" showed promise and was fun for the team.
Jonathan Levy cranked two highlight film dunks and Maksym Shtein was a near perfect 5-5 from the floor and 2-3 from the foul line for Ulm. Christian Grosse also was effective for the second consecutive game with a solid 12 point, 7 assist 5 steal night.
Nordlingen, who were without key guard Mario Probst, was led by skilled scoring center Kevin Hanson who hit 24 points on 8 of 12 shooting while grabbing 7 boards in the loss. Only Cedric Brooks (14 points) and Tony McCrory (13 points), were able to reach double digits for the hosts. Nordlingen sank only 1 of 14 three point attempts.

Ulm looks ahead to the Fritz & Macziol Cup this weekend September 8-10 at Sportszentrum Kuhberg which includes ratiopharm Ulm, Walter Tigers Tubingen, Euphony Bree and Chemnitz 99ers. Ulm has enjoyed outstanding home tournaments over the past three preseasons and this year's edition of the Fritz & Macziol Cup should also be a terrific test for the team.
