Jan Sprunken joins ratiopharm Ulm bringing a terrific team attitude, a cool jump shot and Bundesliga experience to his new team. The veteran knocked down perimeter shots for Schwelm last season in the Bundesliga and enjoyed his best games late in the season scoring 18pts against Ludwigsburg and 19pts against eventual Bundesliga champs Bamberg. Helping lead Schwelm to the 2.Bundesliga North championship and "Aufsteig" in 2003-2004, Sprunken shot 44% from three point range and 87% from the foul line. During the 2003-2004 championship season in Schwelm, Jan averaged 12.4ppg. A consistent performer over three seasons with Schwelm, Sprunken improved his scoring average from 10.5ppg in 2001-2002 up to 11.2ppg with in 2002-2003. Before making his mark with Schwelm, Sprunken played for both Bonn and Quackenbruck over several seasons. The 6'3 wing has been an excellent addition to the team and will be a major contributor off the Ulm bench at the shooting guard and small forward position. A smart player, Jan moves extremely well without the ball and plays intelligent position defense. Ulm staff and management look for Sprunken to translate his experience and winning habits to the team. Jan attended high school in the USA in the state of Idaho where he played basketball, baseball and was the kicker for his high school football team. This summer, Sprunken spent over one month traveling in South America enjoying different cultuers in different places. Truly Jan's addition helps the ratiopharm Ulm team personality on and off the floor. Fans will not have any trouble noticing him as Sprunken has the unique ability to get hot quick and hit three balls like "lightning".
