ratiopharm Ulm Assistant Makes Mark with NBA Basketball Without Borders in South Africa!

ratiopharm Ulm assistant coach Tunde Adekola recently enjoyed a fantastic week of basketball in South Africa working the NBA run camp Basketball Without Borders held in Johannesburg September 2nd through 6th, 2009.  Working with the top 60 basketball prospects from the continent of Africa, NBA coaches, players and legends headlined the camp staff along with excellent young coaches such as Ulm's Adekola.  Among the NBA players in attendance, Dallas Mavericks superstar Dirk Nowitzki, Orlando Magic superstar Dwight Howard, Miami Heat All Star Chris Bosh, Detroit Pistons forward Jason Maxiel, Charlotte Bobcats forward Vladimir Radmonovic and Los Angeles Lakers back up post DJ Mbenga all took part in the event.  A perfect role model for the young African players, current Milwaukee Bucks player Luc Mbah a Moute worked the camp after attending teh camp a few years ago.  NBA Legends included former Detroit Pistons great Bob Lanier and former shotblocking big man Dikembe Motumbo.  NBA coaches and staff included current Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach Herb Brown, Washington Wizards Milt Newton, Toronto Raptors assistant GM Masai Ujiri and Dallas Mavericks director of scouting Amadou Gallo Fall.  Along with the excellent basketball instruction, the camp toured the Apartheid museum and participated in a variety of community events such as building or planting projects. This summer was the 6th Basketball Without Borders camp held in South Africa as the NBA works to promote the growth of the game in Africa.  ratiopharm Ulm assistant Tunde Adekola, born in Nigeria, is extremely motivated to bring top basketball to his home country of Nigeria and also to Africa.  At the camp, Tunde spent a majority of his time working as an assistant for veteran NBA coach and current Charlotte Bobcats assistant Herb Brown.  A fantastic experience for Tunde, the excellent week among top basketball personalities was inspirational for Adekola.  With coaching experience as an assistant in the USBL with the Brooklyn Kings and with two Danish teams the Baaken Bears and Randers Cimbria, Tunde Adekola is in his first season as an assistant with ratiopharm Ulm.
